Five minutes with Marcus Webb

Night shifts, flatshares and the toughest room in the country — Marcus Webb on his 23 May headline hour.

Five minutes with Marcus Webb

Every season I sit down with one of our headliners before they take the Main Room stage. This week it is Marcus Webb, opening our summer season on 23 May with an hour about night shifts, flatshares and the London rental market.

What is the first joke you remember writing?
Something about the 4 AM bus home from the warehouse. It got a laugh from my brother, which at the time was the toughest room in the country.

What should the audience expect on 23 May?
An hour that starts in a Southwark warehouse and ends somewhere much funnier. New material, a couple of old favourites, and at least one story my landlord would rather I didn't tell.

Front row or back row?
Back row if you want to hide, front row if you want to be in the show. Both are correct answers.

Tickets are £20 and doors open at 6 PM. Come hungry — the interval brownies have their own fan club.
